The inevitable reality of a race engine is that they require maintenance, and sometimes this includes removal and re-installation of the cylinder heads. This results in wear and tear on the surfaces where mounting hardware meets the cylinder head. These hardened steel hat washers can be installed in the head providing the best surface possible for mounting hardware to torque up against, while preventing marring of the aluminum surface.
